Love the sleeve! My dachshund had ACL surgery and I hated putting that collar on her. She hated it too! The lick-sleeve worked perfectly. Would highly recommend.
Jeffery M.
The Licksleeve keeps our dog from licking the incision, which is what it is supposed to do.
Brianna K.
Awesome sleeve that actually fits and is comfortable for my pittie. Awesome customer service!
William M.
A little pricey, however, it sure beats wearing a cone!
Lisa S.
Fits well and washes up great!
Sharon
We ordered FOUR different surgery site protectors and this was the only one that worked! The other three were either too easy for our mastiff to get to the incision, slid down and choked her (full body suit) or she could weasel out of. I’m so thankful we were able to finally lose the cone!
Cynthia T.
Great product. This will take the place of the cones.
BILL K.
Fits well. Easy returns. Much better than the cone of shame.
Jillian B.
We love these for our orthopedic patients!

Functionally it's well designed. It stays on well, and in a way looks kind of cool. It prevents direct access to the TPLO incision, and it's reversible for if/when the other knee goes.
However, I am knocking off a star for three reasons:
1. None of my dog's vets would actually endorse it — most likely out of an abundance of caution. A dog that is overly interested in the incision will chew this thing off. Mine is not that dog, but if she found herself in the right position, should could just barely lick past the donut-cone-hybrid thing we got to improve her quality of life. So ultimately we got the lick sleeve as a fail safe so that the more comfortable collar could do 90% of the work, and the lick sleeve would prevent the risk coming from the other 10%. The lack of any non-Lick Sleeve representative being willing to endorse it left me feeling uneasy. But much of life is about striking a balance and so we stacked it with other preventative measures in order to provide better quality of life during initial recovery.
2. A product can be good and still not be safe for most people, and this preventative measure could lull the owner into a sense of false confidence. Doing TPLO recovery correctly is really serious. This is *not* as safe as a traditional e-collar. Not even close. But it can be, if used mindfully. In general though, few pet owners are as mindful as they should be, and I consider that a problem for which this preventative measure should be more up front. This thing *can* work, but only if you’re already doing pretty much everything else right.
3. At no point did I feel like this thing was worth almost the price. Yes, it's good, it's well made, and the material seems to be proper for the task. But it failed to ever feel like an actual good *value*. Something about holding about 75g of mystery fabric, and knowing it cost almost $100, just never settled into feeling good. If this were closer to the cost of other soft recovery aids — maybe $40-$60 max, I would have eventually stopping thinking about how much it cost.
Would I recommend it? Sure, for the right dog and the right owner, and with the caveat that it should be part of an ecosystem of prevention that aims to be comprehensive without sacrificing as much quality of life, but not as a sole solution to ever dog and every owner.

The Lick sleeve worked like a charm. Our dog hated the cone and our surgeon recommended the sleeve. It fits perfectly, it doesn’t bother her and it’s so easy to put on and off. Definitely a 10 out of 10.
David F.
Perfect protection for Cocoa's left hind leg following a MAST Cell tumor removal. She has great range of motion and isn't concerned about the sleeve. Our vet recommended and assisted with fitting and application. WAY better than a cone! Great product!
Krista
Great! My girl had surgery on her right knee. I hated the cone because she couldn’t do anything with it on. No rest, no laying down, hardly walking, i don’t even think she could hear properly. With the lick sleeve, she never has bothered her incision. It was a good barrier. I bought two so i could keep changing and keeping one clean. Easy to wash. I put mine in a laundry bag with towels.
Nicole R.
It is impossible for my boy Knox to be any type of collar on him. This was the best alternative for him. Great product!!!
Tammy M.
it works great. gives peace of mind.

Our dog managed to pull off her cone a few times and we knew we had to do something different to protect her wound while it was healing. Even though she showed no interest in bothering her sutures, we had great piece-of-mind knowing that she wouldn't be able to get to it with the lick sleeve on. We had tried another brand and it did not work at all. The design was inferior and was a complete waste of time and money. The Lick Sleeve has been amazing and if our dog has to have her other leg "fixed" in the future, we are ready, because the lick sleeve can be used on either the right or left leg. Thank you for a great product!
Brianna K.
Our dog had TPLO surgery and we needed to protect the healing incision. We first ordered a surgery sleeve from Amazon however it did not fit properly at all medium too small, large too big. Was also extremely difficult to put in. After returning that one we decided to try the lick sleeve. Sizing was still an issue (we ordered a large and it was just a little too snug) but customer service was awesome and exchanged it for the XL and even overnighted it! We love it. It’s easy to get on and she’s very comfortable wearing it. Thank you!!
Karen H.
This sleeve is great! Merci does not need the cone, so much better than her first surgery for constant attention. Wish I had it the first time.

Not ideal for male dogs, hard not to get in the way of urination
Paul M.
It is fine but he keeps taking it off when alone.
Benjamin R.
It's really easy to put on.... once you and your pup get into a routine. The first few times were a struggle as Duke and I were not on the same page. Now it takes about 20 seconds. Must take it off for male dogs as it does interfer with the penis while urinating. It works well covering the wound and isn't extremely tight. It's not like a support but a covering.
Ana O.
Wonderful for the dog, wonderful for the family
William K.
120 lb Rottie out smarted it and was able to get to the wound. I possibly should have gotten the smaller one
Kathleen M.
Overall, I was disappointed with the lick-sleeve given its price-point.
Pros: l liked the concept of one sleeve being usable for both the right and left legs and how quickly the fabric dried after washing.
Cons: My dog was able to wiggle out of the lick sleeve pretty easily. If I was to re-design the sleeve I would add velcro so the width at the top of the sleeve could be adjusted and I would make a fabric “y-shaped” connector off the top of the sleeve so there are two points leading to the buckle that holds the sleeve up.
Also, the buckle that is used to adjust the strap length seized up after 2 adjustments and I can’t open it anymore. The strap was as short as it could go, so it was not a factor in the dog wiggling out of the sleeve…he was just able to push the wrap over his hips and step out.
Kathleen F.
We are at Day 4 after surgery and so far, so good. The sleeve allows Holly to move around, get up and down and go potty. She really does not seem to notice it much and so far, is totally leaving the leg alone.
Annie D.
Great leg sleeve for my dog after TPLO surgery. Well made and high quality. Not only is my dog unable to lick her wound, but it protects her wound from my other dogs (which was my main motivation for buying the sleeve).
Ben R.
Easy on..... well at first it was a pain but Duke helped us get it right. A shame you're dog has to instruct you. Seriously though; the sleeve is easy to put on and take off. It works. And looks a bunch better than the cone of shame. It's the right choice!
Vicki F.
Great product! Worked perfectly to prevent my dog from licking her wound post TPLO surgery!
Jenna V.
Puncture to the knee. Vet unable to stitch it closed due to location of the injury and possible risk of bone infection. Recommendation to keep it covered. This Dane pup is a maniac, but has not messed with the injury while the Lick Sleeve is on.
Thank you!

Just so helpful after his bi lateral knee surgeries.

This is such a fantastic product.
Our dog has had a post-TPLO plate infection for 10 months (long story!). He’s been having such a hard time and putting his cone on him at night just made him so much sadder and broke my heart every time. Then I discovered he figured out that he could reach his leg even with his cone on so I stopped being able to leave him by himself for any length of time. Our surgeon recommended this product and I am so glad he did!
All the similar sleeve products available have weird and ineffective ways of securing to your dog (a single string up to the collar??? terrible) but the lick sleeve attaches securely. It seems comfortable, stays in place and he doesn’t mind it at all! I did end up cutting about an inch off the bottom so it doesn't go over his ankle. You cant even tell. I also like that it is grey because I can tell when he has been licking it (and therefore might be in more pain). It washes easily and dries pretty fast. It also has the added benefit of helping to keep his bandage in place. This infection leaks profusely and is so hard to wrap well because of the knee joint and his increasing sensitivity to repeated adhesive.
I only wish I had bought a second one to switch out when I’m washing this one! I am recommending it to everyone now. Worth every penny.
Susan D.
The lick sleeve makes recovery a breeze. She never licks at her wound. It's a real game changer. Have never needed the dreaded cone. She is definitely on the mend.
Sabrina A.
This saved my dog and myself from sleepiness nights after my dog’s tplo surgery. Very great alternative from the uncomfortable plastic cone. My dog was very at ease with his lick sleeve and it did not bother him at all. I put it on him at night when we couldn’t keep an eye on him, and stitches healed very well.
Michael B.
I was very impressed with Crystal and Henry on the telephone. This was my first contact, and they made an excellent impression.
It was like talking to a family member. They made me feel welcome and special. Especially Crystal. I placed the order with Crystal, and she was kind, polite, professional, and very knowledgably about the product. When your precious dog is looking at ACL surgery, it's important to share your feelings with someone who understands and has compassion.
10 STARS FOR CRYSTAL.
Robert A.
We have a small house and a giant dog. Our beloved Wolfhound just had knee surgery, and we were told of the urgency of keeping her from licking the surgical site. An e-collar was completely impractical for so many reasons. Plus, I defy you to get an e-collar on a 145 lb dog who doesn't want to wear one! Enter Lick Sleeve. We were so grateful when our surgeon recommended your recovery sleeve. One week into her recovery, the Lick Sleeve works perfectly, very comfortable, and she's fine with wearing it full-time. Have not had a single problem with her pestering her incision site; it's like she has forgotten it's even there. Lick Sleeve is an indispensable product for any dog who is recovering from surgery. Thanks!
Robert A.
Our beloved Wolfhound absolutely definitely would NOT wear an e-collar. We learned this when we had her spayed at 2.5 years old. We bought a recovery body suit and she wore it with no complaints, and her recovery was simple. When we found out she needed a knee surgery, our osteo-surgeon recommended Lick Sleeve. We bought the largest one, and one week into her recovery, it has been perfect.
Kim K.
Dissapointed that you had to pay a lot extra to get right away. Almost the same as it cost. Ordered on Saturday came on Wednesday. Dissapointed you had to take off when your dog has to go to the bathroom.
Calli B.
My dog had TPLO surgery and my vet recommended acquiring a lick sleeve to protect the incision. What a great product! No licking or chewing and no wearing e collar!
John F.
Just a great experience from customer service to the product. Highly recommend your company.
HM H.
A Godsend to not have to use that “collar of shame” on my 5 month old puppy. He is a boy, so it is a bit of a pain to take it off every time he has to got out to do “business” But I can see where the design wouldn’t work any other way. He doesn’t resent. It going on and seems comfortable while in the house or crate.
Karly S.
I like it. I wish it was more loose. I also think the fabric should be more breathable. Other wise it’s ok. I wouldn’t recommend it though.
Catherine D.
Our dog loves her lick sleeve. So much better than a cone. Worth every penny!
Cathie L.
We received the lick sleeve after one week of surgery. He has tolerated the sleeve well, wears it through the night mostly. Easy to remove and replace.
Janice L.
We are generally pleased with lick sleeve. It does provide an extra layer of protection. It doesn’t take the place of a cone. Our dog would bite through without a problem.
Robert E.
Fabulous! I was quite certain that I would need to return it, didn’t think my girl would keep it on. She readily accepted it and is quite comfy wearing it. She has a wound that she wouldn’t stop licking and was wearing a cone. I was searching for an alternative and found the Lick Sleeve!
What a great invention! Thank you so very much,
Robert Ellis
Micheal P.
I followed the directions and it fit perfectly. When I took our dog back to the Vet for a check-up, everyone in the office was impressed with the sleeve and asked me where I got it.
Kathleen M.
Love the mix option! Very helpful for keeping accurate stock qty based on our needs.
Derek H.
Worked great on my Dobermans back leg…kept her off her hot spot long enough for it to heal.
Thomas F.
The sleeve fits well and is more comfortable than the hard cone. My dog feels comfortable in it.
Catherine S.
Works great! My dog hated the cone and has not messed with her incision since we put in the Lick sleeve.
Stephanie T.
So much better than having to put a cone on.
Julie N.
It’s very expensive for a leg sleeve.
Lucia V.
Our beautiful Nova will not wear a cone or donut. She will jump and spin trying to remove it. The Lick Sleeve was a true blessing allowing her to heal after acl surgery. It’s comfortable, stretchy and gives full coverage of her leg. Thank you Lick Sleeve.
nubia l.
Way better than a cone!
Kevin S.
This came in very useful since we had to exchange for a bigger size.
JUDITH O.
I was recommended to your site via a group regarding tplo surgeries. It seemed like a great ideal and when your website offered 100% money back guarantee I thought it was worth trying. My dog never bothered his incision so we never used it. I was not given 100% money back, shipping fees and something else was deducted from my refund. Very disappointed and I will not recommended this to anyone else despite the produce being good or not. And I want all my money back!
Michelle R.
The Lick Sleeve is a lifesaver! My dog recently had CCL surgery on her back leg. She was shaved and had an incision site, so she wanted to lick everywhere! I went through a cone and a donut, yet she could still reach her leg. I made a stupid pajama like outfit out a long sleeve T-shirt but I would have to take it off for walks and sometimes she would get out of it. Finally I found the clock Sleeve and it's perfect!!!!!!!! It doesn't constrict her movement, it's comfortable because she doesn't bite at it, and she's able to pee with it on so I never have to take it off! Plus she's happier without wearing a cone! Worth the money and I would recommend it to all dog owners.
Timothy W.
Great alternative for cumbersome Elizabethan collar. Our Great Pyr, Yogi was much more comfortable with the sleeve and didn’t bother his sutures.
Crystal R.
It's been great. It took a little practice putting it on, but my dog has far less cage anxiety with the sleeve than he did with the Elizabethan cone.
Mary C.
much better than needing the cone on
Nicole Z.
AMAZING product! Well constructed, fantastic material, smart engineering...overall a great product. My sheepadoodle is a persistent licker and she'll work around all but the largest cones, and it's hard to have her in such a giant cone all the time because she can't eat or drink or be very mobile with it on. I came across Lick Sleeve online and I'm so glad I ordered it. It fit super well and it allowed Hazel to have mobility and freedom from the cone but still kept her sutures well protected. Shipping was extremely fast. Lick Sleeve is well worth the cost and I would highly recommend it.
Elizabeth D.
I think it’s great in theory but my dog keeps managing to get it off even after watching several videos on how to apply
Deb M.
My dog keeps getting out of it. And it’s on secure and tight
Cristina L.
She’s more comfortable recuperating from TPLO, than traditional e-collar
Michelle M.
It’s the best thing ever invented. Them cones are horrible.♥️
Carol W.
So glad we found this product! Rosey HATES the dreaded “cone of shame” and we also tried a doughnut - she wasn’t thrilled with that either lol! This is perfect for post-TPLO surgery - she doesn’t mind it and hasn’t tried to take it off. The only thing is that if she wiggles around a lot, it has slipped off her back a couple of times (although never off her leg) but we just adjust it every time she gets up or goes for a walk. Thank you!
Donna M.
Stayed on, and seemed comfortable.
Amiee M.
Rubee Mae has been so comfortable in her lick sleeve while she recovers from TPLO surgery.
So happy with our purchase!
Arcata H.
The orthopedic veterinary surgeon that works with us recommended these lick sleeves for patients recovering from surgery, and we love them!
Kimberly L.
I like the concept of the Lick Sleeve way better than the Cone. However, it does not stay on my dog. Constantly sliding off.
Ana G.
It is an excellent product. I would like to see an improvement in the design. My dog just had a TPLO surgery and I wanted for him to be comfortable, and I think he is. However, soon I am going to remove it to check his stitches. I wish there would be a way to do this without taking it off. Thanks
Thomas F.
It was easy to return a small size sleeve that did not fit. I was able to reuse the original package and box to resend it.
Lindsay B.
We use this sleeve to hold up a large bandage and to prevent licking on a large wound. This has been an absolute god send for our 135lb dogs recovery. Thank you so much!
Jeffrey S.
Truly a game changer for a dog with TPLO surgery. I wish we would have had this for Casper's first TPLO surgery.
As they say, second time is a charm!
Great product, easy on and easy off and Casper told me that he loves it more than the cone or PJ's.
Kevin M.
Wish I had known about this product sooner. No more cone of shame.
Christie H.
I love the idea however, the sleeve does not stay on. The fabric is stretchy so my dog can get under it, even though I took a tuck in the fabric to make it fit better. I had to add a strap to keep it on. Perhaps this is not a product for a dog with a sleek coat.
Nicole M.
We tried some body suits after my big girl had her TPLO done, and she hated them, her legs would get stuck in the fabric, so we ordered a lick sleeve and it’s SO MUCH BETTER! As a vet tech I will be recommending these to any one needing leg lick protection!
Julie O.
Fantastic! Start to finish.
Excellent customer service, directions, videos, and functionality and quality! Easy to use, stays put and comfortable for my girl.
Kept the wound clean & covered while keeping her comfortable! It also was a great assist in keeping our other dogs away and from licking allowing for her wound to heal clean and quickly. Thank you Lick Sleeve!
Victoria P.
We used this to give our dog a break from her cone after TPLO surgery. Just watched to make sure she didn't lick the sleeve itself. Worked perfectly and was soft and lightweight!!
Andrea G.
This is the second ACL surgery we have used this sleeve and it is SUPERIOR to all the other options out there! It stays on the whole time, it’s comfortable for our pet, and overall is a great product!
Amy R.
As a veterinarian, I know how well these suits work. I've not yet used this one, but I'm looking forward to it.
Katherine S.
Shipping was so fast. We ordered it on Wednesday after we found out she would have surgery on Thursday. We picked her up on Friday and had it with us at pick up. The PT Assistant was very happy to see we had it and helped us put it on her for the first time. She has completely left the incision alone and acts like the sleeve isn't even there. I give it a 10/10!
Debra L.
The Lick Sleeve is an absolute blessing!
I drove 900 miles to get the TPO surgery for my dog. I couldn’t imagine driving 900 miles back home with a cone on his head so I ordered the Lick Sleeve. Arrived just two days after surgery.
I was able to drive home without a single worry of him, licking his leg. My dog was also extremely comfortable. At times, it seems like he enjoys having it on almost like a comfort. I am so grateful for this product.
Jeneen J.
Well made....fabric is soft and snuggly
Kim Y.
My Flat Coated Retriever HATED the cone and ended up getting a hotspot.. The Lick Sleeve saved the day.
Steve M.
Fantastic produce and alternative to the standard “cone.” The quality and overall service has been A+!
Amanda C.
Our 3-year-old Staffy just had back-to-back TPLO surgeries and the lick sleeve was a lifesaver. The lick sleeve is easy to use and easy to clean. Our dog seemed very comfortable in it the entire time that she wore it (which was day and night). I think it's important to point out that the lick sleeve is not a complete replacement for an e-collar. A dog can still easily get to a wound through the fabric--so they need to be monitored if that's the only thing they're wearing while a wound is still in its healing phase. I consider the lick sleeve a great addition to a surgery recovery protocol. It helps keep the surgical site clean and dry and can also help keep a dog's mind off of the area (i.e. out of sight out of mind). Highly recommend!
Amiee M.
We knew our pup didn’t relax at all with the cone of shame after she got spayed so we knew we needed an alternative. Rubee Mae had a TPLO procedure to repair a torn ACL. The Lick Sleeve has been wonderful to keep her incision protected from her & her chocolate lab sister from licking it. This allows her to rest & heal…comfortably!
Thankful for it after surgery & so nice we can use it for her other leg surgery too. It’s Reversible!
Thank you from Rubee Mae & Mom & Dad too!

Best way to care for leg injuries on your dog
Karen M.
I hoped to use to cover a hip area but it doesn’t cover the area so I’m not able to use it.
Paula K.
I had really hoped that the sleeve would work, but my dog was able to chew through the fabric in pull the staples out and cause her leg to get infected so the sleeve did not work like I thought it would. She has to wear her cone of shame until she gets her stitches out, so I was pretty disappointed in the sleeve.
Alice S.
It has really been a great buy. It definitely took the worry out of him licking
Courtney C.
This is the second time we have had to use the Lick Sleeve. It’s big enough for our girl, easy to use and easy to clean. I would definitely recommend the Lick Sleeve.
Rachel F.
The unit itself is well made. Unfortunately, the wound in my retrievers hind leg was about 3/4 of the way up. Since there's a gap at the top where it wraps (and inevitably moves as the dog lies down), her wound was exposed. We waited a week after sutures to try the lick sleeve. We watched her all day to make sure she wasn't tempted. Sadly, I went to put clothes in the washer and she had five minutes alone. Ripped out her stitches and sent us back to the emergency vet. Wound up costing us a LOT of money, an extra week (for three total) in the cone, and a sore and worse off puppy.
If your dog's wound it low on the leg...maybe worth a try? My dog HATES the cone, so we were hopeful. Sadly, our one day of use resulted in even more cone time.

Gave My Blue Heeler His Freedom Back!
After my dog’s surgery, we tried just about everything to keep him from bothering his stitches—cones, full-body suits, you name it. He absolutely hated the cone and looked miserable in the full-body post-surgery suits, which were too restrictive for his high-energy personality. That’s when we found the lick sleeve, and it was a total game-changer.
The lick sleeve gave him back his freedom and happiness during recovery. It covered his wound well, protecting it from dirt and abrasion while making it harder for him to lick or bite at the stitches. It was such a relief to see him able to walk around the house and go on short walks without being constantly uncomfortable or frustrated.
He was in between sizes, so we went with the large. It does stretch a bit with wear, so I’d recommend sizing down if you're in between sizes like we were. One thing to note—my dog is a bit of an escape artist, so I didn’t trust leaving it on him overnight, but for daytime use it was absolutely perfect.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a more comfortable, dog-friendly alternative to the cone!
Jaci W.
Perfect fit - My dog loves it.
Amy G.
Works great! Easy to use
