Orders ship from Dallas, Texas (USA). At checkout, you can choose options such as overnight or 2-business-day shipping. After you select a method, an estimated delivery date will display based on your location and choice.

Is the Lick Sleeve® washable?

Yes. The Lick Sleeve® is machine washable. Hang to dry or tumble on a low-heat cycle.

What's the fabric made of?

The fabric is 95% polyester and 5% spandex—chosen to be soft, breathable, and flexible. It helps keep the area comfortable while reducing trapped moisture that could increase infection risk.

Does my dog need to wear an e-collar with the Lick Sleeve®?

Most dogs should not need an e-collar in addition to the Lick Sleeve®. Exceptions include patients with higher anxiety or a history of chewing. Monitor your dog for the first few hours, and consider an e-collar at night or when unattended if they tend to chew. How can a male dog urinate with the sleeve on?

Unbuckle and unwrap the sleeve from around the dog’s waist to assist with urination, then resecure afterward. You can use the strap as a handle while the pet urinates. Watch the official demo video on this page.

What can I do if the Lick Sleeve® is too long for my dog?

You can trim the bottom of the sleeve with household scissors to prevent it from hanging past the paw—the material will not fray. You can also roll the end into a cuff.

Can my dog wear two sleeves at the same time?

Yes. Dogs may wear two sleeves simultaneously if needed, such as for bilateral procedures.

Do I need to specify the hind leg that’s having the procedure?

No. The Lick Sleeve® is reversible and will work for either the right or the left limb.

Can the Lick Sleeve® be used on front legs?

Yes. The Lick Sleeve® can be worn on front legs by crossing the long strap across the chest. Use the right side of the sleeve for the right front limb and the left side for the left front limb.

Is there an alternative to a dog cone?

Traditional e-collars (“cones”) can hinder sleeping, eating, drinking, and movement. Alternatives include soft e-collars, inflatable collars, neck control collars, or our patented Lick Sleeve® leg sleeve. This has been great! He did not lick his stitches at all. The only minor problem is sometimes the part that goes around his waist slips down over his butt, but it’s probably because when he’s sitting or laying, I worry that it feels too tight. It’s probably me being overprotective though. There were a couple times when he peed before we could hurry up and unwrap the part from his belly and his pee got all over the lick sleeve. Luckily, it was easy to hand wash and dried really quickly in the dryer. Sometimes we would just slide the belly wrap back so he could pee without us taking it off. We were so glad we had this and did not need to use a cone!

The licksleeve works great for after CCL surgery. We use it during the day while we can keep an eye on him but we do put the e-collar back on at night or while unsupervised. Our dog does not do well with the cone so the licksleeve provides some relief from it. It's very easy to put on but we did wait a few days until after the surgery to first use it. I gave it four stars because of its concept and recommendation based upon Boston Dedham veterinary specialist. Actually, my dog did not use it.. The TPlO reconstructions procedure going left an incision area very sensitive for the material to lay against . . Plus, I would have to take it down to look at the healing and because he’s a male the underneath gets in the way of him going pee. It worked ok because my dog handled the cone well which served better in this case. I decided to keep it anyways for the future because I have two dogs of similar size. But I do think that the rear leg sleeve should be redesigned to better accommodate the male dog. The phone conversation I had upfront was very professional and informative. The customer care has been exceptional. Everyone gets a 10+! However, I have had trouble with the sizes. The medium is to small, and the large is way to big. I modified the medium, by adding 2" on to the strap. I needed an extra inch to comfortable fit my sick dog. The large, I needed to sew smaller-the sizing for the hid quarters was to big. I would love to see the medium straps adjusted a bit-I think it would accommodate more dogs readily!. I still need to use a cone with my sick dog, because of the placement of her wound is midthigh, and she can reach it. But, it is a very good product, well worth investing in for your dog. It is not the end all perfect, but i suspect no product is 100%. thank you

I have two requests for improvement. 1) I wish there was a better way to fasten this product. The clip lays awkwardly across the back of my dog and doesn't see very comfortable. And... 2) Like you company says, there is chafing. I think it's because of the double wrap around, but I understand why your product needs that. I'm sure if your company can figure out a new fastening system that is less awkward & causes no chafing you'd get 5-star reviews from everyone. With that being said, this product is still 100% better than an E-collar.

But, he's clever and the exact height of the coffee table so he found if he circled under the table eventually the clasp would slide off. Noice in the picture I put bed risers under the table legs! Excellent product! Our Maggie has been super comfortable with this sleeve! We bought a cheaper sleeve on Amazon which works fine but you have to secure it to a collar (which is not a comfortable option) or a harness which is better but not as good as Lick Sleeve. The cheaper sleeve is good for a day while you are washing the Lick Sleeve, but all in all, Maggie was more comfortable with Lick Sleeve. Our pet insurance, Embrace, even paid 80%(after annual deductible )of the cost of the sleeve. I highly recommend this product HANDS DOWN!

The LickSleeve offered great peace of mind during Murphy's TPLO surgery. He would not tolerate a cone, it made him absolutely furious, but did not mind the LickSleeve a bit. He never tried licking through it or getting it off, so I can't attest to how it holds up to that, but it was obviously very comfortable for him to wear (see picture of him sleeping in his favorite position!). He wore it for about 8 hours a day while I was at work and the incision seemed to breathe just fine through the fabric. I absolutely love that it is reversible, as he is having the TPLO done on the other leg in a few weeks. 1000% worth every penny.

We had a great experience with Lick Sleeve for our 80 lb female dog, so we purchased 2 for our male dog for post surgery care. However he is a big boned and too-heavy male dog with a somewhat wide belly and sloping, narrow behind. After a few days he was able to slide it off so we could not use it for the full first month recovery that we did with our female dog. But it was very helpful for the first few days post surgery.

While this appears to be a well-made product, it unfortunately did not work for my dog. I was hoping it would be a reliable solution, but he quickly figured out how to remove it and access his wound. To be fair, he is quite the escape artist who consistently finds ways to chew through traditional cones, break out of crates, and get through fences. While the product wasn't a match for his level of persistence, I still think it is a great concept that would likely work very well for the average pet.

We got a size large from our vet. It was just what we needed as our pup has issues with the cone of shame. We used it for 21 days and it was perfect. Only down side ir stretched put over time and our girl got it off in the middle of the night and chwed the buckle. We rigged up some velcro to keep using it we did order a size medium but it was to small. Over all I love this product and fingers crossed we never need another one but if we do it was worth every penny!

Lick Sleeve saved us from the dreaded cone of shame. It was easy to put on and remove and held up very well after being washed and dried. It did not seem to bother my dog at all. My only suggestion would be to remove it once in awhile when your pet is being supervised if you can. My dog developed a small rash on his stomach which may have been from the sleeve rubbing against him.

LOVE the Lick Sleeve! As a veterinarian, I have tried many things for my own pets as well as for client's pets for post op recovery, hot spots, etc. E-collars are my least favorite... they work but the pet is often miserable. Inflatable collars are great for some things, but not for back legs as they can usually reach around them or put their rear leg up in front of them and chew. Body suits have been my "go to" but they usually require some adjustments and the fabric quality varies greatly. Recently, my 16 pound angel, Ella, tore her CCL and required a TPLO, which is a major orthopedic surgery using a plate and screws and cutting the tibial bone to realign the joint. This procedure requires several weeks of confinement. My daughter works for a veterinary pharmacy and told me about the Lick Sleeve. I quickly called the Lick Sleeve company and received great advice and help with sizing! (Thank you, Henry!) The sleeve arrived and is a game changer! The fabric is strong and does not stretch out. And the design is brilliant with the strap going around the abdomen and buckling on the back. Very comfortable fit! Washes well! Highly recommend! Well done Lick Sleeve!

I bought the bilateral hind leg sleeve suit and individual hind leg sleeves for my late English pointer Star. She had multiple illnesses including all forms of hemangiosarcoma: cutaneous, subcutaneous, and viscerally. She kept biting open one of the tumors on her legs and I needed some way to keep her from bothering it. HSA is a cancer in the blood vessels and can travel anywhere, so that is where we were. I decided the sleeves might be the best solution to her. Unfortunately, her medical conditions were hampering with a decent quality of life. She had a mass in her heart, on the pancreas, plus everywhere else possible in and on her body, and I couldn’t help that. I asked the vet to let her go last Friday. They had been seeing her 2x a week for months. Now to the sleeves, I thought the quality was excellent and they washed well. I wrestled with trying to find a good way for the hind sleeves to convert to being on the front legs. It never was a good functionally, but with manipulation we made it work for her last couple of days (I believe I received the sleeves a few days before she passed.

the fit was excellent based on the measurement instructions. Having 2 lick sleeves was definitely a necessity for washing and air drying. Zorro tolerated the lick sleeve without any problem. Due to additional surgeries we had to use a cone and we will go back to using the lick sleeve for the balance of Zorro's recovery. Lack sleeve much easier on Zorro and our household.
