My dog had TPLO surgery and I wanted an alternative to the traditional E collar. I could not have been more pleased with the LickSleeve! My dog showed little interest in licking her wound and seemed much more comfortable than using an E collar. My dog is short-haired and has a stub tail. She was able to slide the sleeve off once. She likes to roll on the rug and I believe it slid down her hips and off. Aside from that, I had no issues with it at all. It appears to be quite durable and is easy to put on. Is it more expensive? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes! I would certainly recommend it for this particular type of wound protection.

Our vet included a Lick Sleeve after surgery, but she didn’t have the right size. So we made due with an XXL. But when I finally got the right size (XL), wow, it worked really well! (Yellow Lab, 80 lbs, back left leg)
Jamie M.
I wasn't certain this would be effective, but it worked wonderfully. It fit comfortably, and stayed in place. My dog wore it for 2 weeks straight after her first TPLO, and I will absolutely be using it for the second side, she was so much happier with the Lick Sleeve than the coneof shame.
Donna M.
I got the first sleeve from the veterinary clinic and it worked great. I ordered another to have so my dog has it on when washing the other one.
Rebecca K.
My high-drive 18-month old working dog puppy took a break in her human remains detection training for a CCL tear and subsequent TPLO surgery.
Fingers crossed the stitches come out in a couple days, but until then I trust this cool invention to help me keep her from bothering the incision. She’s tolerated it extremely well and it has been a dream for me in wound management. (She also needed a cone when unsupervised.)
Tanya A.
This is the best invention since sliced bread! The cone of shame is so inconvenient & uncomfortable for my little Morkie that I was thrilled that I found the Lick Sleeve. It’s so easy to put on the dog & much more comfortable for her. This company really does think about the customer because they have made it interchangeable for right and left leg so you don’t have to purchase one for each side if they should have to have the surgery on both legs.
Charlene M.
Dog acts like he did something wrong just sits there and won’t move
Marie Theres F.
It did work ok

This was my dog’s second acl rupture in 8 months. I decided to try the Lick Sleeve this time as it was less confining than the sleeve I used the first time. Overall, I liked the freedom of movement offered using this sleeve. I did think the clasp closure could be improved upon. It seemed to “cut” into my dog when it was tightened, which it had to be periodically as the material began to stretch with wear. My dog wore the sleeve for 13 days for reference. Maybe using velcro and a wider band would work better? Also, name label and leg label (on the inside) was already wearing off before washing occurred. For the price, I feel a few improvements could be made. The sleeve was very expensive and material a bit flimsy.
Steve C.
First time she’s stopped licking that paw since January 15th of 2025
Mike H.
Works great cleans up vary easily

We have a surgeon that visits our clinic once a month. She does alot of CBLO surgeries. We send the patients home with the lick sleeve on. Owner like them because they can remove the ecollar to take them outside and to eat with out worry of the patient licking the incision.
Lucas S.
Great product. Pretty much eliminated the need for an e collar after the first week of recovery.
David B.
The sleeve allowed our dog to heal without the dreaded cone 24 hours a day. We still use the cone at night but during the day, with supervision, we use the sleeve. Supervision is the key. She can get to her stitches under the sleeve. She cannot be left alone with just the sleeve.
Candice C.
It just didn’t fit my dog. Nice product but wasn’t the right shape for my dog, unfortunately.
SHERRI M.
How it wraps, it slides back, and our male dog keeps peeing on it.

True professionals!
Kathleen B.
This was a great alternative to the cone! The only problem we had was the back part wanted to slide down over her butt.
Renee F.
It does help stop our dog from licking/chewing on her incision. It has not even been 2 weeks, and the seam is fraying a bit on the part that goes around her tummy. I found the shipping to be outrageously expensive! Please use a cheaper courier! Shipping at checkout was $20 US but then we had to pay another $50CAD in import fees and brokerage fees!
Kenneth T.
Our German Shepherd has worn this daily since her TPLO surgery, and it's been out of her way as she resumes weight bearing. Performed just as we'd hoped. The sizing instructions are correct. Only advice: if you're ordering from Canada, give yourself an extra few days for border clearance.
Erynn B.
The lick sleeve is incredible!!! My dog had ACL surgery and has NOT needed to wear the cone of shame thanks to lick sleeve. It’s easy to put on, comfortable for the dog to wear for an extended period of time and it washes and dries beautifully. This is the perfect solution, I can’t recommend this enough.
Kristin C.
Easy to apply. More freedom than the cone.
Marnie G.
The lick sleeve is a life saver! Kept our girl from having to wear a cone for weeks on end -and kept her incision clean and healthy!
Connie F.
Our vet recommended it, and we are loving the Lick Sleeve! We haven’t needed the cone at all so far, and the Lick Sleeve has enabled our dog to sleep, eat and drink normally. He hasn’t bothered it at all. I take it off and on easily to let his incision get air. Life saver! The cone of shame is a real pain, and we haven’t needed it at all so far! I first ordered a Large, and it seemed too small. We’re using the Extra Large which may be a bit big, but it is doing the job!
Melissa H.
So great he hasn’t had to use an ecollar at all after TPLO surgery. Great material and washes good
Melissa S.
This is a great product. I would recommend it for any dog! Full disclosure, my dog is a big licker. He would lick with his lick sleeve on anyway. BUT - it's still great for being able to provide lots of worry-free cone breaks. Whenever we've been hanging out, eyes on my dog, I can take off the cone and he is safe with just the sleeve on. I wouldn't trust him when I'm not there, or in the night, but it's well worth the money for the pleasure we both had in taking that annoying cone off at times :)
Nicole P.
I received the lick sleeve in timely fashion. It was well packaged. I will use it Thursday when my dog has his CCL surgery.
Audrey L.
The fabric is soft and fits great!
C T.
My dog is very timid and would have been traumatized by the neck cone. This was a great solution for us. Easy to get on and off. No need to remove for bathroom breaks with a female dog. Kept her attention away from the wound/stitches area. Easy to wash. She also loved sunbathing during her recovery and this had the added benefit of offering sun protection for the sensitive shaved area.
Kay B.
The lick sleeve was a much better option for our dog after her hip replacement surgery. Very easy to put on her and she was much more comfortable than with the “cone of shame”.
Sandra P.
My dog had ACL surgery. The sleeve fits well and she doesn't seem very bothered by it so I'm very happy with it. Better than an e-collar.
Nina B.
Works and fits perfectly.
Charles P.
Our dog has a "hot spot" he's constantly licking, irritating it. The Lick Sleeve is the only thing we've found that let's us keep a medicated dressing on the lesion. He tolerates the Lick Sleeve well. We take it off for Potty breaks and walks but otherwise it's on him most of the time. The lesion is still there and may require a vet visit but it has shrunk considerably and no longer looks inflamed.
I highly recommend this product.
Elizabeth H.
Lick sleeve was a game changer for my dog who hates cones. He didn't bother the sleeve and it stayed on for 2 weeks. You have to take it off for pit stops, but once I cut it to the right size it was easy to slip over his foot very comfortable for him. Wonderful product. Checked
Colette E.
Lick Sleeve is way better that the "cone of shame" which our labradoodle Refuses to wear. This Sleeve truly is a life saver. The company was easy to deal with and helpful in determining the correct size.
David W.
The best invention. No cumbersome cone or donut. Max never bothered his stitches. Sleeve protected area, kept it clean and had plenty of ventilation to allow the wound to heal
Joseph H.
Works well. Definitely stopped the dog from licking its incision.
Mandy S.
Game changer. Bella doesn’t mind the sleeve at all! Like it’s not even there. I would recommend this to anyone who has a dog recovering from surgery. We never even had to use the cone of shame!
Worth it! 100%
Charis H.
The sleeve was a great help during Elsa's recovery! Highly recommend!
Debra D.
It is great to keep our 1 year old lab from licking her incision. However the fabric stretches out, bunches around her middle and keeps sliding down her rump. She had TPLO surgery on her left leg; in about 6-8 weeks she needs to have the same surgery on her right leg.
Noel S.
Super user friendly and now we can escape cone of shame! I can’t say enough about how great this is- keeps the wound clean and light enough for air circulation! Yay!
John F.
It seems like a great product and i will keep it on hand. I bought it to guard my dogs incision after he had his CCL fixed. It turns out, he wasnt the slightest bit interested in licking his incision, so I never had a need to use it. But, I imagine if licking were a problem this would have done the trick.
Christi F.
We have tried the donut and cone with no luck. Either our dog is able to move around the donut or becomes defeated and stressed in the cone. Due to this, we have battled multiple flare-ups with infection and numerous costly vet visits. I saw the lick sleeve and was willing to try anything. It was a game changer!! I wish we would’ve known about it sooner. It would’ve saved much discomfort and pain for my dog and lots of money in medical costs for us. We have had no problems with him gaining access to the wound and licking. He is on the mend and almost as good as new!
Ethan T.
Dog tolerates this sleeve well and I’m sure she likes it better than the cone of shame.
Rebecca M.
Life saver after TPLO for my dog who hates the cone. Much better than the online knock off products that don't fit- this is worth the higher cost
I will note my dog learned to shimmy the waist belt down and then shake it off, but I used a bandana to secure the waist belt to his harness and then he was fine. Still, couldn't have made it through the post op period without this. Highly recommend
Tate O.
These are so much better than Elizabethan collars.
It's rare that my patients need both. 95% of time, TPLO surgery heals with only these Licksleeves.
Danielle P.
My Rhino just had surgery for a ruptured CCL so I bought him a Lick Sleeve to wear as he recovers. Rhino is built like a tank at 75 pounds with short little legs. I got him a size XL sleeve and then just cut a few inches off of the bottom for a perfect fit! The Lick Sleeve allows him the freedom to recover without being restricted in a cone all while preventing him from accessing his surgery site. Rhino is also blind so the sleeve makes life much easier and more normal for him. I do take it off for potty breaks as he wears it on his right rear leg so the wrap covers that area. When needed, I can wash it and just put a cone on him for a brief amount of time. We are so grateful to have such an incredible product to aid in his recovery!
Vincent D.
We were distressed about Izzy wearing a cone, however the Vet provided a lick sleeve post-surgery (torn CCL). We purchased a second one, so we could swap in a clean one. Never any issues with licking and she was please to eat her Friday bagel without the complication of a cone on her head.
Ron W.
Fits perfectly and he sure was happy to be free of that cone!
G K.
Probably not the right person to ask. The concept is great, but Grayson is between sizes. We bought the large, should have gone with the medium. The sleeve did its job once we figured out how to jerry rig it to stay on by adding a strap and hooking it to his harness. The material that wraps around the body could have more 'body' to it, it tends to curl... but all that being said, once we fussed with it (it turns out it's a two person job to get it on the dog), it prevented him from licking his incision - which was the main reason for the purchase. It was way too costly to have to fuss that much, but eventually we got it to work.
Mary C.
This sleeve worked really well! My dog did not bother her incision at all- no licking, chewing or scratching. It is easy to put on and she was comfortable sleeping in it all night. I like that it is reversible so it can be used on either leg.
Dawn W.
Highly recommend this product. Our sweet Pippin was able to graduate from the “e-collar” to the sleeve. She was able to complete her surgical recovery period in the sleeve. Only problem is now she wants to wear clothes all of the time. Pricey but well worth every penny.
Jennifer W.
It was great for our 4 yr old mixed breed dog recovering from TPLO surgery. He seemed very comfortable wearing it and it was easy to put on. I found using it as a sling for potty breaks awkward, and not suitable for his 80 lbs, so just removed it and put it back on afterwards. Would recommend for sure!
Lisa R.
I am so glad my vet told me about the Lick Sleeve. It allows me to remove the cone and let my dog rest and heal much more comfortably during the day. She did manage to slip it off one night with a donut pillow but I figured out a way to tie it to the donut and problem solved. It’s breathable and keeps the wound area clean as it heals. Thank you for creating this solution.
Monica S.
We could not go through this surgery without this sleeve! I had a size large for her first TPLO surgery and it fit, but she was now on the high end of the weight range. Had a super helpful call and decided to buy the XL. It fits a bit looser which is also good. I am so glad I have both so she is always covered and has not needed a cone (thank goodness because she has zero tolerance).
The Lick Sleeve is an absolute must for any kind of surgery. I will sing this from the rooftops as I am extending grateful to have this product.
James K.
Works as advertised
Jeff F.
Very nice product would recommend this highly
Super fast response and delivery if you need this get it here it’s worth it.
Thank you lick sleeve
Renita R.
The lick sleeve is the best. My Lab had surgery and would not leave the incision alone, even with a e-collar on. She ended up with infection. So I ordered this lick sleeve and she never once attempted to lick it.
I highly recommend the lick sleeve.
jillian m.
Works wonderful !
Beth B.
It's great but doesn't stay on the dog really well. Constantly needs to be adjusted.
Dawn P.
This is second lick sleeve. Huge fan
Kelsey O.
This is my second lick sleeve for my dog and it has gotten us through multiple surgeries plus it has been such a lifesaver for us. He gets excited now when he sees his lick sleeve and he loves it!
Karen L.
Very helpful in eliminating the need for a cone post ACL repair. It’s a bit expensive for what it is but my dog really appreciated having it ;) I’ll be saving it in case he’s in the 50% of dogs that need the other knee done within two years!
Jeffrey N.
Our little lab needed knee surgery. Our surgeon recommended LickSleeve and the product worked very well. Our pups wound healed infection free and kept him from licking biting etc. We did not need to use a secondary deterrent such as a cone.
During the painful days immediately following surgery, the brilliant design of the LickSleeve allowed me to examine the wound pain free, provide extra support for his leg to walk, and worked perfectly staying out of the way while giving him comfort to relieve himself.
I bought a second just two days after surgery so we could wash them every couple days.
Highly recommend. Use with confidence.
Shawn E.
The lick sleeve is a wonderful idea. Our dog had a case where she was able to chew through it. But i could see normal post surgical situations as this being an asset.
Charles S.
Our dog got it off. Tried to put it back on and she bit me. Then after we got it back on, pulled it tight, she still got it off. $110 too much for not working.
Jeff F.
These guys are great, I had no idea they were so responsive and really care about you and your pet
I hope I never need this again but if I do they are my first stop. They even verify you received your package. Very satisfied customer.
Thank you again!
Tara B.
It’s a game changer during the recovery process!
Karen L.
It was so nice to have this instead of the cone, with her being a large dog. She doesn’t mind putting it on. Stays put most of the day, unless she decides to roll on her back and move. Walks nice and no problem from day one with going to the bathroom. Thank you. It’s hard enough go through the surgery, knowing this can help their recovery is wonderful.
Chrisitiane G.
Réaction très rapide de vos services.
Mais prix de la livraison très élevé.
Beverly W.
I purchased the Lick Sleeve for my mini Golden Doodle who just had a lateral suture repair for a torn CCL. When the bandage has to be replaced during the early post surgery days the Lick Sleeve provided additional protection to prevent the dog from rubbing and displacing the bandage. My only issue was the slippage of the sleeve during sleep and positional movement in her bed. I found that clipping some of the leg length helped to release tension and prevent the sleeve from slipping off the dog's back. For this 25 lb dog I purchased a size small and extended the fastener belt to the longest length. The sleeve is a much better option than a cone to prevent licking of the surgical site.
Annette S.
Life saver after TPLO surgery!!!
Charles D.
My Scottish terrier had surgery on his right leg. After the surgery, he was required to wear the large shield on his head (lamp shade) so that he wouldn’t open his incision. The surgeon told me about the Lick Sleeve. I ordered it while still on the surgeons parking lot.
It arrived two days later and did its job!
I can tell you, my dog had a tough two days prior to the arrival of the Lick Sleeve. My only regret is that I didn’t known about the Lick Sleeve prior to the surgery.
Debra P.
My 9 year old German Shepherd has been having anal gland issues and it can cause them to lick a hot spot on a rear leg. The Lick Sleeve has been a relief for BOTH of us. It's easy to put on, comfortable for her and covers the hot spot till it can heal. I had one and decided to get another one "just in case". I would recommend this product to all dog owners. The Elizabethen collars are stressful for my German Shepherd and the Lick Sleeve serves the purpose, AND keeps her AND ME calm. Thank you SO MUCH!!
Alexis P.
My Bernese mountain dog hates the cone of shame and is very restless when wearing one. With the lick sleeve he was able to relax and sleep comfy and couldn’t lick his sutures! Highly recommend!
Becky R.
I should have ordered a Small. But the medium is okay.
William O.
The strap around waist slides off my non-fat labrador when she spins around on bed. We had to connect it to her harness to hold it on. It seems to have stretched out since day one. Otherwise, has been a comfortable solution and allows her to be without cone when we are home.
Nancy V.
Our dog was right above lower weight on size chart. The sleeve stretched don’t recommend buying down if this is your situation. It is a little big for him.
Alexis H.
Much more comfortable than the Elizabethan collar.
I did have to watch it didn’t slid off since my dog does not have a tail and it fastens at the top on her hind quarters.
Cheryl W.
Quality product, great service
Dianne H.
It was the best thing in the world after my pet had surgery on his knee. He loves it .
Terri K.
I bought the sleeve and the full body suit. The sleeve worked great except for his penis getting smashed which concerned me. I got the full body suit and used it on/off with the leg sleeve. I think the full body suit is most comfy and he can potty with it in too.
Lori T.
This came in very handy for my dogs tplo recovery!
Amanda S.
Such a happy girl! After her TPNO surgery, the doc wanted her to wear the cone of shame for a few days in case she licked at the wound. He was worried that the lick sleeve would become wet and sit on the wound. After 2 days, I moved to the lick sleeve and haven’t looked back. It’s very clear that it’s become second skin to my pup. It’s soft to the touch and easy to put on.
Susan D.
Although my GSD dislikes the lick sleeve, it is far better than using the “cone of shame.” He can move around easily, sleeps well with it. I found that if I push it back slightly he can pee without getting it dirty. It can be challenging to put on. If he’s lying down, I cannot wrap it around his waist. I need to make him stand up. Once on, though, it stays put. He does lick the sleeve when I’m not watching him. It gets wet but at least he’s not licking the wound. If it wasn’t so expensive I would recommend getting two so that one could be washed and dried while he remains protected. That’s my only complaint. I strongly recommend it.
Vannessa F.
This is such a great alternative to having a pets limb bandaged and even an e collar driving the pet crazy. I love that it is washable and appears comfortable to my pet. The only thing I’d provide additional feedback on is the sizing but it could also just be my pet is teetering sizes so while he measured large he may have been okay with a medium.
Margaret S.
My dog had a TPLO surgery. She came home with a Lick Sleeve from the surgeon. I purchased a second one. I have been able to use one and wash the other.
The lick sleeve has been a valuable deterrent to her bothering her incision. I was able to wash and line dry the sleeve. It washed wonderfully. So worth the investment.
Shari M.
It looked great, but I didn't end up using it because my vet wanted me to leave the TPLO incision uncovered.
Kim C.
I purchased the recovery suit, but received the lick sleeve. I’m pretty sure it was my error. I needed it right away due to surgery. I sent it back the next day & UPS said it would take a week. I called Customer Service at Lick Sleeve & it was already being shipped to me & I received it right away!! They were courteous, showed empathy, & had all the answers I was looking for! The legs were a tad long, but it was so easy to cut them a bit & the rest of the suit fit perfectly! My dog loves it & he can do his business while wearing it easily! Thank you Luck Sleeve from our pup Kip!!
Desiree D.
Worth every penny! My American pit terrier had ACL repair surgery. She weighs about 60 pounds and so I ordered a large. This sleeve kept her from messing with her stitches as well as advertised. Get it. You won’t regret it.
Jeffrey R.
Hard a hard time with the cone of shame. But this sleeve is just great. Not hard to put on at all. Wash it and air dry if it gets dirty.
Dawn P.
After a long, sleepless night in his cone, Jax was delighted to spend the next few days in his new lick sleeve. He gives it four paws up.
Joy K.
It made Lily Mae's recovery from TPLO surgery so much better. She hated the cone of shame.
Tanya K.
This is the 2nd sleeve we have ordered. 2 years ago our lab had TPLO surgery & is very much a licker. We coned her for the first 2 weeks per her surgeon and for the next few weeks we used the Lick Sleeve as extra precaution. Our pup had no issues with it on and did not attempt to lick or bite at her leg. She unfortunately tore her other CCL and will be having surgery in a few weeks, so we ordered a 2nd to be prepared when one is being washed/dried. We also utilized the sleeve during sub zero winter days as the metal hardware in her surgery leg gets very cold when outside during potty time. The sleeve kept her leg a bit warmer and helped keep some of the aches down to a minimum.
